Thirty years of spreading the word of the Lord through a little paper called "The Line Rider." When the fellowship was formed, we never dreamed we would be coming out with a cowboy monthly good news publication. In the beginning (sound familiar?), the publication was called "The Circuit Rider" and was called that for probably ten years. Someone back east saw one of the Circuit Riders and got in touch with us. It seems the name "Circuit Rider" is a registered trade name. Davalynn Spencer was the editor at the time, and she and Mike Spencer, the FCC general manager at the time, decided to hold a contest to rename the newsletter. Duane Shipman, a staunch supporter and western historian for Denver, won the contest with the name "The Line Rider". "The Line Rider" has been put together by many different people starting with John and Karen Kissel who were some of the earliest folks to handle the office needs. Back then the heading said, "Printed every once in a while." They were printing around 250-300. After John and Karen, Mark kept it going until Mickey Bost stepped in and handled the chores. It continued to grow and they started to have testimonies from Canada and all over the United States. Then Davalynn Spencer took over the reins and did some big researching on the best ways for printing and mailing the ever growing publication. Penny Cling, and Lynette Peters were the next in line to undertake putting the newsletter together. It was a cooperate venture as they all added pictures, articles and their fun Kids Corral. Currently, my wife, Lynne, and Linda Scholtz are putting it together. Lynne is the in-house gather and paste person, while Linda is the roving reporter. We've had some outstanding testimonies throughout the years as well as really good Bible studies from various folks. Several good monthly columns have evolved along the way, and the news about Chapter functions always blesses our socks off. God is so gracious, and it is neat to hear how He is working in folks' lives clear across the U.S. Poems and stories, news and pictures are all being gathered together to encourage folks in the far corners of the country. But I guess my favorites are the testimonies. It's hard to beat a stirring testimony of how someone became a born again new person in the Lord. A BIG THANKS to ALL who contributed through the years. It's been quite a journey.
